MAVILA PERALTA

Producer Profile

Mavila Peralta is a second generation coffee producer who owns five hectares of land in the village of El Laurel, near Jaen in the north of Peru. On her farm, Mavila works closely with her brother, cultivating about 2.5 hectares of coffee. They also process their own coffee, and have received training on agricultural practives and post-har- vest techniques through the Origin Coffee Lab education program. Mavila’s coffee is very sweet, round, and crowd-pleasing.

Cajamarca

San Ignacio sits at the north of Cajamarca on the border with Ecuador. The Eastern and Western Andes meet in the region, helping create distinct microclimates that are ideal for growing high-quality coffee.

Catuai

Catuaí is the result of a genetic cross between Yellow Caturra and Mundo Novo, made by the Instituto Agrinomico of Sao Paulo, in Brazil. While it was first bred in 1949, it was released in Brazil in 1972. It comes in both red and yellow variations, and there are multiple genetic lines available in Brazil. Some of these lines are known for high output. Generally, Catuaí is known for its good quality potential at high altitudes and small size, which allows for greater planting density. This planting efficiency contributed to the intensification of full sun planting in Central America during the 70's & 80's. Unfortunately, Catuaí is highly susceptible to coffee leaf rust

.

Washed

Fermented for in tank for 18-30 hours. Sun dried for 10-20 days.
