Shipping policy
Orders are processed Mondays and Wednesday,
Local deliveries will be delivered between 4pm and 10:30pm on Wednesday for orders received by noon Monday; or Friday for orders received by midnight on Tuesday.
For parcel delivery, Subtext uses Nationex, Canada Post, and DHL. Orders will be shipped out Wednesday and Friday; for orders received by midnight Sunday, the coffee is generally roasted Tuesday and shipped by Wednesday, for orders received by midnight Tuesday, orders are roasted Thursday and shipped Friday.
If there is an issue with a delivery—i.e. lost, missing, or damaged parcel—please reach out via hello@subtext.coffee. While the delivery and condition of the package is the responsibility of courier, we will do what we can to fix the situation.
Roast Days & Order Deadlines
Roast days are Tuesdays and Thursdays, with orders being shipped out on Wednesdays and Fridays, respectively. The order deadline for Tuesday roasts is Sunday at 11:59 PM Eastern. The order deadline for Thursday roasts is Tuesday at 11:59 PM Eastern. Any orders received after the cut-off times will be roasted and fulfilled on the next roast day. While most orders will be fulfilled with coffee roasted the week you order, we may fulfill your order with coffee from the previous week's roast if we have any hand. We recommend you rest our coffee for 2-3 weeks.
Damaged and Stolen Packages
Subtext Coffee Roasters and its couriers cannot be held liable for packages stolen after delivery. If a package is damaged such that the seal on a coffee bag has broken, please contact hello@subtext.coffee as soon as possible and we will replace the damaged bag.
Canada Wide Free Shipping
Free shipping applies to orders containing only coffee and cannot contain wares, merchendise, or event tickes. Orders of $60 and up qualify for free Canada-wide shipping with the courier of our choice, depending on the specific delivery address. A tracking number will be provided to you by email when your order is fulfilled.
Expedited Shipping in Canada
You have the option of choosing and paying for UPS Expedited shipping at checkout.
Local Pick-up
At checkout, you have the option of selecting local pickup. You will know when your order is available when it is marked ready for pickup on either Wednesday or Friday. If you attempt to pick up your order before it is marked as ready, we cannot guarantee that it will be available.
Subscription Shipping
All Canadian Subtext subscribers qualify for free shipping on their monthly subscription boxes. Subscriptions ship out on the first Wednesday of the month. Subscriptions are shipped via the courier of our choice based on your location. You will be charged for your subscription on the 25th of the month prior.
US Orders
Coffee orders to the US are shipped via DHL. US orders of $75 USD and up qualify for free shipping excluding PO Boxes and rural areas. We cannot ship to PO boxes in the US, please provide an alternative shipping address. If you live in an area that DHL deems rural, your order will be shipped by an alternate courier of our choice.
UK Orders
All orders to the UK of £60 and up qualify for £11 flat rate shipping with DHL Worlwide Express.
Europe
Orders of €65 and up qualify for €13 flat rate shipping with DHL Worldwide Express to most countries in Europe.
Tariffs & Duties
All payments of duties and tariffs are the responsibility of the receiver. Any duties payable will be charged to the receiver directly by DHL (or similar) or by Subtext should we be charged any fees to clear your order through customs. Duties charged do not render an order eligible for refund or compensation. Rejecting a package does not absolve the receiver of responsibility for brokerage invoices.
US Customs
*US Customers should be aware that the recent tariff policies imposed by their government, and the end of de minimis exemptions have resulted in unpredictability at the border. While most of our shipments pass quickly through customs without tariffs, you should expect potential delays. Any charges levied by the US government are the responsibility of the receiver.
** The FDA may opt to inspect our packages as coffee is a food item. In these cases, there is nothing we can do to expedite the process and we must simply wait for them to inspect and approve the package.
International Orders
We ship all international orders with DHL.
Returns
Coffee is a perishable food product and as such, we do not accept returns of coffee or other food products. However, if a coffee bag arrives torn open let us know and we’ll work to replace it right away.
For non-coffee or food products such as merch, wares and equipment, if you are unsatisfied with your purchase please contact us at hello@subtext.coffee within 14 days of receipt of goods. We can accept returns of unopened products that are still in sellable condition. We will provide you with a return label and a refund will be issued once the item has arrived at Subtext, and its condition is approved.
